FINAL EXERCICE FOR BASIC MODELING - PART 1

Now that you know how to create "subsubmeshes" beeing part of a Land (over a Ground) and all the tricks for texturize it, let's go to a challenge: create a BCG island having two cubes (2x2x2), one over the other, at the position (-10,0,-10) and having, like texture, an arrow in the superior face, pointing to North.

Try this alone or read the solution.

REMEMBER: If we declare a position using three numbers (a vector), the first position is in the West-East axis, the second is in the Down-Up axis and the thirth is in the North-South axis . Negative numbers means: at left of the central point(for the first) or after the central point(for the thirth) . The values are in feet.

SOLUTION (step by step):

1 to 8 - Follow the steps 1 to 8 of this lesson, creating a subfolder land1.

8a - At the Top View: change to "WireFrame" and zoom until the adequate grid to see the cube ocupying 2 squares of the grid (next level of zoom of the grid from the default). Add the first Cube in the position using also the Front View (zoomed).

Change its name to "firstcube".

Re-read the previous lessons to know how to create the UV map, how to find what is the superior face etc..

8b - Design, save like JPG and "install" the texture inside Blender.

TIP: Remember to put a copy of all the textures at the folder "Textures".

SUPER TIPS: 1) If you, trying to install the texture, don't see the new file in the folder "land1" (in Blender) , click the button having a ghost, to refresh the list.

2) Press the reel (central button) of your mouse having the pointer over the name of the file to load it.

8c - Create the "secondcube" (independent from the first) and its texture.

8d - On "Object Mode", select all and Join (using Join Objects) the two cubes and the "land1", creating a new "land1" (verify the name in the Buttons Window - if is the name of one of the cubes, change to "land1").

VERY IMPORTANT! VERY IMPORTANT!

9a - Blender uses, like default, the creation of meshes using "quads". BUT Croquet uses "triangles"!!!!. You need to change this. Beeing selected the "land1" mesh, go to "Edit Mode" and press Ctrl + "T". Save.

9b - Return to Object Mode. Verify if the name of the texture has .001. If yes, erase this .001.Close the texture clicking the "X" near its name.

9c - Select File | Export | etc. Verify if "land1.ase" was created inside the folder "land1". YOU NEED TO OPEN THE PATH AND CONFIRM, CLICKING "choose Path".Save and close Blender.
